Welcome to the Martin Lab at Tufts!
We are a brand-new lab in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Tufts University starting in January 2026.
The Martin Lab focuses on developing next-generation natural killer (NK) cell therapies for the treatment of solid tumors, with a focus on gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. We address critical challenges in cell therapy for solid tumors by integrating tools from genetic engineering, synthetic biology, protein engineering, and biomaterials science to improve NK cells' natural ability to kill tumors, help them reach solid tumors more effectively, and ensure they work well despite the surrounding immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment.
We welcome inquiries from creative, driven students excited about applying engineering principles to cancer immunotherapy.
